With the “Green Train” you’ll have the opportunity to travel and to know the truest and most evocative side of our territory. Thanks to the splendid railway, you will reach the heart of our island and pass through some of the most beautiful places on our island. You will meet places that are impervious and hidden, often unreachable by foot.
If you want to spend a quiet and relaxing moment the “Green Train” is perfect. Its speed is moderate so you can enjoy the landscape and the surrounding nature, moreover you can visit charming, ancient, far away places.
The line goes through the territories of Girasole, Villagrande, Elini, Arzana, Ilbono, Lanusei and also through the Gennargentu which is the highest mountain in Sardinia.
The landscape suggests different emotions. You will meet the lonely “Perda Liana”, a massive calcareous rock which is the gate to Gairo, Ussassai, Ulassai and Seui land At that point the landscape changes again and is full of rocks varied in shapes and colors.
After having travelled for more than 60 km by train surrounded by a century old hollyoak wood, the train stops for a break.
Later the route will continue toward the Naturalistic Oasis of Montarbu in between the Ussassai and Seui territories, and among the odours and colours of an uncontaminated environment.
A pleasant walk will lead to the discovery of calcareous rocks.
