

Ogliastra, an uncontaminated area in the centra-east part of the island on the Tyrrhenian Sea, delimited in the north-side by -Supramonte- and -Codula di Luna- River, and in the south-part by Jerzu and -Salto di Quirra- hills, an area which has the chance to offer the mountains and the sea in just few kilometers. Well-know for both charm of its beach and rocky-jagged coast alternating with beautiful beaches and rugged mountain landscape rich of wood-forest and spring, also characterized by unforgettable panorama-views. The wild landscape contains also the famous -Nuraghi-, -Tombe dei Giganti- and -Domus de Janas-, indelible trails of Sardinian -nuragica- culture.
The most interesting things ? beautiful beaches of Bari Sardo and Lotzorai, Santa Maria Navarrese and Marina of Tertenia ? Jerzu, the city of the -Cannonau- wine, Ulassai, Lanusei ? the Ogliastra capital ? Tortolì and Arbatax. We also suggest to visit the regional park of -Tacchi-, the cave -Su Marmuri- in Ulassai, the clear and huge complex chalky of -Supramonte-, spread from Nuoro to the Orosei gulf, also famous for the -Gola di Gorropu-, the deepest canyon of Italy and maybe of Europe and the very famous Red Rocks (Rocce Rosse) in Marina di Arbatax. For those who like the archeological route we recommend to visit the area of -S'Ortali- and -Su Monti di Tortolì-, the -Area Sacra- and -Menhir- of -Sa Perdalonga- in Bari Sardo, the -Domus de Janas- of Lotzorai. Finally, we recommend to visit the city of Ulassai, the country that is also called -museo a cielo aperto- (open-air museum) because of the many things that you can find inside the country-village as well as the birthplace of the famous painter Marina Lai.
About food and wine Ogliastra can offer many kind of typical local food like fresh pasta and -curlugionis-, cheese like -casu axedu-, olive oil, many kind of bread like -su modizzosu-, -su pani pintau-, -su pistoccu- and really good kind of wine like cannonau of Jerzu, celebrated by Gabriele D'Annunzio. About pastry, we can suggest -pardulas-, -bianchinus-, -amarettus- and -gattou-, maked with original ingredients of the area: fresh cheese, milk, ricotta cheese, fresh eggs, almonds and bitter-honey.
